Curriculum

The Biochemistry Department’s Undergraduate Program is a higher education within an academic education program. The curriculum for the Undergraduate Program in the Department of Biochemistry is structured as a set of plans and arrangements about the content and study materials and lessons as well as their delivery and assessment which are used as guidelines for organizing teaching and learning activities in the Undergraduate Program in the Department of Biochemistry.

The Major-Minor System Curriculum is the curriculum used by the Undergraduate Program in the Department of Biochemistry which is a translation of IPB’s curriculum to the competency-based national curriculum (CBC). The major-minor system curriculum is a competency-based curriculum system implemented by the department, which is designed to provide flexibility to students in concocting courses to broaden their horizons and increase administrative efficiency, as well as improve the quality and relevance of educational programs. Implementation of the major-minor curriculum requires a departmental mandate that is deep and specific in terms of competence.

Major is a field of expertise based on scientific disciplines mainly in a department or faculty, where students can deepen certain competencies (science, skills, and behavior) in a course package. Minor is a field of complementary expertise taken by students from other departments outside the main department (major). Based on their educational objectives, courses in the undergraduate program curriculum consist of general courses, major courses, interdepartmental courses, minor courses, and supporting courses.
